Ring of Ice

Wild Horse is ice free south of the island off of the state park boat ramp. There is a ring of water around the edge and is fishable from shore. The wind is pushing the ice around which means that some shorelines will not be fishable as the ice is pushed towards it, while others are. The good news is that the winds are starting to break up the ice and the lake may be mostly ice free by this weekend. The lake level continues to come up and the water is to the bottom of the state park boat ramp. Anglers should expect fishing to be slow, following two years of no stocking, even though 10,000 trout were stocked last fall. If water levels continue to rise stocking should resume this spring.
