Striper Bite is Starting to Pick Up

The Striper bite is starting to go well both up Lake Mohave and here along the Colorado river. Our local anglers Muzzaffar Pana ( Muzz for short) and fishing buddy Mark Aguilar. They were fishing from shore near the dam up on Lake Mohave using anchovies. One of the stripers weighed in at 9.62 pounds at 31 and 1/2 inches and another of the stripers weighed in at 6.5/8 pounds at 27 and 7/8 inches. I have heard that a few stripers were being picked up near the coves by the power lines and on the Nevada side at telephone cove. ... more »

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

Look where we live. Couldn't resist as the Striper bite is starting to go well both up Lake Mohave and here along the Colorado river. Our local anglers Muzzaffar Pana ( Muzz for short) and fishing buddy Mark Aguilar. They were fishing from shore near the dam up on Lake Mohave using anchovies. One of the stripers weighed in at 9.62 pounds at 31 and 1/2 inches and another of the stripers weighed in at 6.5/8 pounds at 27 and 7/8 inches. I have heard that a few stripers were being picked up near the coves by the power lines and on the Nevada side at telephone cove. Here below the Davis dam along the shores of the Colorado river our striper bite is picking up. we are getting a few in the 1 to 5 pound range. Various lures are working great mostly in the trout pattern and some of the bone or white top water poppers or jerk baits. The casino area and our community park are great areas for throwing out a line. Our local angler Ben Aleman was taking advantage of the time off and camping out on the Nevada side in the big bend area and landed a nice 4.86 pound striper at 25 and 1/2 inches. Ben was fishing form shore and using anchovies. Ben is our local martial art instructor (fort Mohave martial arts) and works as an engineer at one of the casinos. I did get some news of some striper activity a bit down river near the nature center. This is a great spot to fish and just to visit with some nice trails and the observation towere to get a great look over the area. The marsh area is getting some catfish activity so anchovies or chicken livers should do the trick to bring them in. Usually its channel cat fish with a chance of a flathead.
