Up on Lake Mohave, striper fishing is doing very well

Up on Lake Mohave, striper fishing is doing very well. Local angler Dan Peightal landed a nice 7.86-pound striper measuring 28 inches while fishing from shore near Davis Dam using anchovies. Reports from other anglers suggest similar success, with anchovies working especially well.

Below Davis Dam along the shores of the Colorado River, both lures and anchovies are producing stripers. This time of year, smaller fish are more common, but there are still some larger ones out there—so be ready and set your drag accordingly. A 12 lb. line is recommended.

We’re also seeing rainbow trout being stocked by the city and the Arizona Game and Fish Department, which means there are plenty of fish available. Anglers are catching both rainbow trout and stripers. Some have even stopped by the shop for hooks to target carp. The carp are wrapping up their spawn, and anglers report they’re a lot of fun to catch.

Hope this helps for now, and thank you for your continued support.

Now go catch a fish!
