In Nevada
Native
The Razorback Sucker is native to Nevada's Colorado River system, historically inhabiting the lower Colorado River and its tributaries. Listed as endangered under the ESA in 1991, wild populations have declined drastically due to dam construction, habitat alteration, and competition from non-native species. The Nevada Department of Wildlife participates in multi-state recovery efforts including captive propagation and stocking programs in Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. Recreational take is prohibited under federal and state law.
