Native
The Utah Chub is native to Nevada's Lahontan basin, including the Humboldt River system and tributaries of Pyramid Lake and Walker Lake. Historically widespread in the state's northeastern drainages, populations have declined in some waters due to habitat alteration and competition with introduced species. Nevada Department of Wildlife considers it a native species of conservation interest in certain watersheds, though it can become overabundant in some reservoirs where it competes with sport fish.
