In Nevada
Native
The Leatherside Chub is native to Nevada's eastern border region, primarily in tributaries of the Snake River drainage. Historically found in streams of the Jarbidge River system in Elko County, populations have declined due to habitat degradation and competition from non-native species. The Nevada Department of Wildlife considers it a species of conservation priority, and efforts focus on protecting remaining native populations in cold, clear mountain streams where they persist.
