Desert Dace is endemic to Nevada, found only in Soldier Meadows in northwestern Humboldt County. This small native minnow inhabits warm springs and their outflows in the Black Rock Desert region. Listed as Endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act, the species is protected from take, and the Nevada Department of Wildlife works with federal agencies on habitat conservation efforts. Its extremely limited range makes it one of the rarest fish in the state.
