Woundfin (Plagopterus argentissimus)

The Woundfin is native to Nevada's Virgin River system in Clark County, representing the northeastern edge of its historic range. Listed as federally endangered since 1970, this small minnow faces threats from habitat modification, water diversion, and non-native species. The Nevada Department of Wildlife cooperates with USFWS on recovery efforts, including habitat restoration and monitoring in the Virgin River. All take, possession, or harassment is prohibited under the Endangered Species Act.
