The Flannelmouth Sucker is native to Nevada's Colorado River drainage, primarily in the Virgin and Muddy rivers and lower reaches of the Colorado River itself. This species is adapted to the warm, turbid waters characteristic of these southwestern river systems. Nevada populations are considered part of the species' core native range in the Colorado River basin.
