In Nevada
Native
The Colorado Pikeminnow is native to Nevada's portion of the Colorado River system but is now extremely rare in the state. Historically found in the lower Colorado River along Nevada's southern border, the species has been extirpated from much of its former range due to dam construction and habitat alteration. The Nevada Department of Wildlife cooperates with federal recovery efforts under the Endangered Species Act. Any incidental catch must be immediately released unharmed and reported to NDOW.
The Colorado Pikeminnow is the largest native minnow in North America and a federally endangered species. Anglers who catch one must keep it in the water and release it immediately.
