Hello folks, we are cruising in slowly from our local 1/2 day trip while the boys fillet our days catch...Relatively flat & overcast morning started off a bit slow for us today. We had to drag out gear through the schools of reds for quite some time before the fish got with the program & started tugging on our lines... Our 28 anglers ended up catching 247 reds, 33 misc. rockfish, and one lingcod today. A few reds were caught on heavy jigs but as usual the double dropper loop rigs with 10-12 oz torpedo sinkers proved to be the most effective. Unlike our previous 1/2 day trip to the same general area, we caught a surprising number of larger 3-4 lb. reds today. That grade of fish mixed in with the 1.75-2.5 lb. 'steamer' reds made for a very fun day of fishing for our group today! We have a 3/4 day trip scheduled for Monday and the Stardust is fishing a 1/2 day trip as well.
