Still digging out in Tahoe. Another 5-7 feet. 3 feet overnight here in the Hirsch. Pretty impressive storm system. Reno even got a foot of snow. The third week of Feb. we were on pace for the worst winter ever at that point. Most ski resorts are now 75% of average. Another big round is expected next week too.

Safe to say we are going to have a good water year for the Truckee River. 3 years in a row means most of these fish will have rebounded from the drought and we should have had good recruitment of juvenile fish. The lakes will be full. Should be good fishing on both sides of the river all through ’18.

Flows are good right now. Those storms came in cold. Next week, hard to say. We have a lot of low lying snow, 3-4 feet here, and most of the hills and mountains around Reno have the same. It’s all gotta melt at some point. The lower river through the Nature Conservancy should get and stay muddy at some point. I would keep an eye on those flows. Above 800 cfs down there it’s kinda tough. We still get ‘em in the mud from the raft, nymphing and streamer fishing. Wade fishing is tough down there when the waters high. The California side will be good to go though. I except a kinda steady melt through May barring any big rain events. Right now access is tough up here. There’s a shit ton of snow everywhere. The sun angle is higher now and it will pack down and melt quick though. Just gotta make it through one more big storm next week.
