EAST WALKER RIVER

The river is still at 282 cfs right now. The fishing is a little tougher with the higher flow but the fish are still very active and most anglers are getting into some good fish. Lots of fish in the 12 to 16 inch range with a few pushing over 20”. Still haven’t heard much about streamers but with the warmer weather that should change, most anglers are having the most success with small nymphs. With the higher flow you’ll need to run larger indicators and extra weight to get your bugs down to the bottom on your drift. The higher flows also allow the fish to spread out quite a bit so there are fish hanging out all over and in all kinds of water right  now. The upper mile has been the most popular stretch lately but there are some anglers going down below the bridge to fish the faster water.

Recommended Flies:
Rainbow warrior, silver streak, micro stone, poxyback stone, Darth baetis, pheasant tail, prince, aggravator prince, dark lord, radiation baetis, prince nymphs, san juan worm, zebra midge, top secret midge, flashback emerger, sculpzilla, dali lama, zuddler.

SCEIRINE RANCH
The ranch is still fishing well with most anglers reporting 1 to 15 fish per day down there. San Juan worms are still doing great and stonefly nymphs are getting good too. With the nicer weather we’re starting to get more bookings down there so if you want some time on the ranch try to give is a call well ahead of time.

HUNEWILL POND
The pond is thawed out and this morning it certainly did not disappoint! In about 2 hours of fishing this morning two of us landed about 15 fish and missed a bunch more. We caught fish on chironomid, soft hackles, parachute Adams and zebra midges. The only thing we didn’t have any success on was leech patterns, I’d guess it’s just a bit cold for them to work yet but within a few weeks that should change. There were lots if fish popping all over the pond. There are some areas that have some weed growth and other areas that are cleaner but the fish were everywhere. Most of the fish we landed were about 16 to 18 inches, all rainbows except for 1 brown. Give us a call if you want to book some time on the pond!
