For the rest of the winter the water temps will settle in the high 30's and maybe reach the low 40 range. Start to pay attention to those slower moving runs (tailouts, deep slack water) which are also alittle deeper (3'-5' range). Indicator nymphing works well in these areas because the water is slower and deeper. Euro nymphing techniques also work very well during this time of year. Go down on tippet size and bug sizes to get those trout feeding on midges and other small bugs. Just because the water is colder and fish slow down a bit doesnt mean trout wont come up for that emerging pattern in the surface film. If you wish to dry fly pick sunny days with high pressure, that really gets the hatches going in the winter. Trophy trout will come out more mid day when water temps go up. Use those buggers, sculpin, and even crayfish with sink tips. When using streamers slow up your retrieval pattern, Trout are gonna move a little slower.
