The river has also benefitted from recent storms. Cloud cover and some natural runoff have created great conditions. Focus on the cloudy days when you can and mid day has been fishing the best with the most bug activity.

We have been finding most of our fish using small dark nymphs and egg patterns. The Baetis are still showing up mid day and the fish are responding to them well. Again, cloud cover offers the best opportunity for bug activity. In the absence of clouds try to pick shaded reaches or approach in periods of low light.

If you are interested in trying an egg pattern and are unsure how to set it up. Swing by the shop and let one of us walk you through it. We have a full selection of color and sizes and can cover the basics and best way to setup to improve presentation and protect the fish when hooked.

Truckee River Flies We Suggest: Spanish Bullet, Quill Jig, Hot Spot, CDC Red Tag, Zebra Midge, Ready Baetis, Carot, Hot Butt, Pullover BWO, Micro Mayfly, Truckee River Dozen
