Boat and bank anglers (on the jetty) are still catching rockfish and an occasional ling cod inside lower Coos Bay. Smaller jigs with a twister tail or 1-ounce jigging spoons have been working to catch rockfish. Anglers can also catch striped surfperch fishing sand shrimp near the jetties. The daily bag limit for marine fish was recently reduced to 5, which includes a one fish sub-bag limit for China, copper and quillback rockfish. Anglers can still harvest 2 lingcod per day.

Trout fishing in streams and rivers opened on Saturday, May 22. Anglers fishing above the head of tide are restricted to using artificial lures and flies. Trout anglers are reporting very low water for this time of the year even in the larger rivers.
