Steelhead fishing is winding down, though there are still a few fresh winter runs and bluebacks sneaking into the system. Most of the fish, however, are downers. Unlike other rivers, the Russian will remain open after April 1 but it does switch over to no bait regulations at that point. Also, start watching for shad - they can show up as early as Easter here.
