16.16 lb. Striped Bass

Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, NV

Great river news this week! Our local angler, Gary Regan, came in to show us his catch. Gary's fish weighed in at 16.16 pounds and was 35 and 1/4 inches. He was fishing from his boat with his buddies Max and Belle. His companions quickly lent a hand, or paw, to help with the net and get this nice-sized striper on board. It was landed towards the downriver end of the Community Park area. Along the shores of the Colorado River, the striper bite is slow, with a few larger fish being caught by anglers using swim baits. Most fishing has been done from shore, with some anglers venturing out in smaller watercraft.

I've heard that up on Lake Mohave, the striper bite is okay around the power lines and near the dam on the Nevada side. The smaller schools haven't started yet, but watch for ripples or bird activity. I've noticed the carp are in prespawn, so the bass will soon follow suit.

Hope this helps for now, and we look forward to seeing you soon to share your catch and story. Thanks for all your support! Now go catch a fish! Rusty Riviera Marina, 620 Riviera Blvd., Bullhead City, AZ. 928-763-8550.
