Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Flows are currently at around 5,600 cfs at the gage in Waterloo, but these conditions are unlikely to persist with rain forecasted for later this week. Fishing for summer steelhead is open year-round although there are few adults left in the basin. 2026 runs of Chinook and summer steelhead will begin to arrive in late March or April.
