Fishing for trout has been good with fish up to 18 inches being reported. The shoreline weeds will continue to increase throughout the month and water levels will continue to drop. As weeds encroach the shorelines, anglers should access the middle of the reservoir with kayaks, float-tubes, etc. for better opportunity. Bass fishing has been good with fish in the 11-13 inch range being caught. Catfishing has been slow, with just a few fish in the 3-5 pound range being caught.

For trout, fly anglers should try a variety of streamers and nymphs. Copper johns, pheasant tail nymphs, and gold ripped hare’s ears usually do well. Bait anglers can try a combination of nightcrawlers and PowerBait. Small, flashy spinners like rooster tails and Panther Martins should also work well.

For bass, try soft plastics in darker colors with a little sparkle.
