South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

South Fork Reservoir - Elko, NV (Elko County)

Rainbow trout, brown trout, wiper, channel catfish and bluegill have all been stocked this spring. With the warmer weather, trout action is tapering off by mid-morning. In the early morning, try to match the insects that trout are rising for. Experiment with nymphs under and indicator or switch to your favorite dry fly pattern. As the day warms, fish retreat from the shallows into the cooler, deeper water just off of the shelves. For spin casters, orange PowerBait or worms floated off the bottom are the go-to.

Bass fishing is good around the reservoir. Smallmouth are hitting soft plastics in the rocks and weeds off of Jet Ski Beach. Try mixing it up with a chatterbait if the bite gets slow with soft plastics. As of July 1, anglers can keep 1 black bass and 1 wiper. Minimum size for black bass and wiper is 15 inches total length.
