4th of July weekend. Big weekend in Lake Tahoe, and on the Truckee River. Lots of folks in town. Just try to go Safeway in Truckee, I dare you.
Weathers been really nice. Not too hot at all. In fact cold in the mornings. That should change a bit this week, and we'll get back to more Summer /hotter weather. That should put trouts back into the oxygenated water.
Think pocket water all up and down the Truckee River. Fish be in them pockets, in the faster water. Get in there and make short drifts. Short line nymphing, euro, tight line, that's the ticket folks.
Crayfish, and stoneflies, and caddis, and mayflies. Nymph with any or all of those.
Yes nymph, no, you will not have any dry fly fishing during the day- if you're from out of town asking that question.

Good fishing in the morning!
Truckee RiverFeeling the heat on the Truckee River. Mid 90's every afternoon in the Hirsch, with a shot at a thunderstorm or 2. Good fishing if you get out in the mornings and can wade in the faster pocket water. Good luck if you can't. Probably be tough. Summer is here on the Truckee!
Truckee RiverSummer is here on the Truckee River. Flows have come down to just around normal. Around 650 cfs, here in Hirschdale. About the same all the way down river, and lower some up river. Lots of miles of Truckee River to fish right now. California, Nevada pick your poison.
