East Walker River

The East is running at about 181cfs today, there have been a few ups and downs in the flow this past week and for now it has settled at 181. We've been getting mixed reports from the river lately with some anglers doing very well and others not so well at all. Water temps are still in the low 60's in the mornings and are creeping up towards 70 in the afternoons. We're recommending getting your fishing in earlier in the day, say up until noon or 1:00 and later in the day, say, after 5 or so. The dry/dropper action seems to be the best thing going with a chubby, hopper or large stimulator on top and a midge underneath. Some of the midges/nymphs being used include: perdigon, flashback emerger, twisted caddis, buckskin caddis, silver streak, hares ear. You can also Euro nymph or fish your nymphs under an indicator and have some success.

Sceirine Ranch

The ranch is still fishing well with mostly good reports coming in from up there. As with the Cali side the water temps are getting up there in the afternoon so it's best to work it for a half day in the morning or evening for now. A full day booking is still good as you can fish the morning then take a break for a few hours in the afternoon, get some lunch and a nap then get back on it in the evening.

Hunewill Pond

The pond fished excellent again this week with anglers reporting getting into double digit numbers of fish each day. It sounds like the fishable water is down a bit because of the weeds but there's still around 25% of the pond that is fishable and the fish are very active. Lots of damsels hatching on the pond and the fish are all over them.

Below is the report from June 07, 2026 for reference:

We received a couple of complaints about the weeds on the pond this week so I took some time this morning and went out there myself to have a go. There are definitely a lot of weeds in the pond right now, launching my tube was a little difficult as there are some thick matts of weeds up against the North shore, likely from the wind blowing the weeds up there after mowing. Once I got out 20 or 30 feet I noticed it was really too weedy to fish, my plan was to just kick around the pond looking for some water that was somewhat weed free. As I moved towards the West side of the pond I ran into a pretty good clearing and started throwing some casts with a small leech pattern and a soft hackle dropper, first or second cast I got hit, a couple casts later I hooked and landed a nice 16" rainbow. I fished this area for a half hour or so and landed 2 more fish, farmed 3 or 4 and got hit several more times without hooking up. I moved on to see what kind of shape the rest of the pond was in, as I kicked over to the South side it was very weedy, too weedy to really bother fishing then when I got over to the East side I ran into another much larger clear area and in short order was able to catch a couple more 14" to 16" bows and farm several more. All in all I'd say there is about 10 or 15% of the pond that is fishable, I did hook up some weeds now and then but it wasn't that bad in the more clear areas. That being said I would let you know that if you're willing to tolerate these conditions you should be able to have a pretty good time on the pond. I'll try to keep a close eye on the conditions and if it gets bad enough that there are no clear areas to fish I'll let you know.

Bridgeport Reservoir

The Reservoir has been decent for most anglers fishing from boats with some fish still being caught trolling while most of the action is up in the channels and off of Rainbow Point bait fishing. Some days seem to be producing more fish while other days seem to be a bit slower. Trollers have been using crawlers, small Rapalas and Thomas Bouyants while bait anglers have been using inflated crawlers, mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. We haven't heard of anyone fly fishing the Res lately but now might be a good time to try some stillwater nymphing up in the channels.

Kirman Lake

We didn't hear any news from Kirman this past week, if we hear anything this coming week we'll let you know.

Twin Lakes

The Twins are still producing some good fish both from boats and the shore. Boat anglers are getting into some fish trolling night crawlers and Rapalas as well as posting up and bait fishing. Shore anglers are mostly bait fishing with power bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers and inflated night crawlers. We've had fish come in up to around 5 pounds this week.

West Walker River

We're getting some mixed reports from the West with some anglers doing well and others not so much. Some of the anglers who have been successful have been using salmon eggs and night crawlers for bait, or panther martins and vibrax lures for hardware. Fly anglers should think about hopper/dropper rigs or drifting small buggers near the bottom.

Virginia Lakes

The Virginias are still full of action with bait and early/late in the day anglers are getting some fish with mini jigs, Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters. Fly anglers are doing well with small leech patterns and soft hackles.
