Water levels at Stampede Reservoir continue to drop as summer moves along, but anglers are still finding good opportunities for several species. Kokanee fishing remains consistent near the Sagehen and Little Truckee inlets, with most fish measuring around 8–9 inches. Pink and orange hoochies behind dodgers have been productive at depths of 50–70 feet. Rainbow trout can be picked up by trolling Rapalas, while shore anglers are finding success near the dam with worms, PowerBait, and spinners. Smallmouth bass are also active around the dam and along rocky shorelines. With kokanee, trout, and bass all in the mix, Stampede continues to be a dependable choice for anglers looking for a variety of fishing options.
