Water temperatures are sitting at 60F. Recent surveys have revealed many 16–18-inch Rainbow Trout, good numbers of 15-inch Brown Trout and 12-14-inch Tiger Trout. Multiple 24-inch Rainbow Trout, exceeding 5 pounds have also been observed.  Shoreline fishing will produce a mix of quality trout and this spring’s stocked Rainbow Trout.  Trout are being caught on a variety of gear, including nightcrawlers, PowerBait, spinners (Mepps, Blue Fox, and Panther Martins), as well as wet flies behind a bubble.

Largemouth Bass activity should remain good through the first few weeks of early October; with the bite picking up late morning through the afternoon.  Target the south end of the lake for these fish.  Expect to catch 11-to-13-inch Largemouth Bass.  A variety of lures are being used to catch bass, such as shallow retrieving Rapalas, soft plastics, and some poppers. Northern Pike angling has produced multiple fish in the 5-to-10-pound range.

The fall bite for Pike should produce for anglers focusing on the south end of the south lake.  Anglers looking to pursue Northern Pike should use flashy lures, RatL traps, and lures that resemble trout, bass, and Bluegill that can be cast or trolled. There is a limited Bluegill fishery at Comins Lake, and anglers are encouraged to catch and release Bluegill to better establish their population.
