Fishing conditions: Good
Report: The October Caddis are beginning to come off in greater numbers now up in the Dunsmuir area. There are fish coming out of the lake with this colder weather we've had, if you are chasing them think streamers. They will eat nymphs too, but they can be a lot of fun taking sculpin or shad patterns. Look to fish October Caddis pupae patterns like Mercer's October Pupa or Skip's BH October Caddis. When they are really thick and coming down in the evenings to lay eggs, Mercer's October Skater, Stimulators and the Sedgeback October Caddis will get the job done. The other flies to have now on the Upper continue to be Zebra Midges in #18 or smaller, BP Weiss nymphs, black S&Ms, black Micro Mays and any other teeny, tiny nymph chucked into the frothy stuff is the best tactic during the day. Towards dark you can head hunt with smaller dark Missing links and Adams. Always have Rubberlegs, Perdigons, BP Weiss Nymphs, Poopahs, Zebra Midges and Bird's Nests to round out your offerings.
