Chris Heiland of Phoenix won first place for a 37.8-pound yellowtail. It bit a sardine on a 4/0 Owner ringed Super Mutu hook. He said he used 30-pound fluorocarbon, 60-pound spectra, and Accurate 270 reel and a Seeker five and a half-foot rod.

Nancy Beckstrom of Cedar City UT won second place for a 33.3-pound yellowtail, and Harvey Belkin of Simi Valley won third place for a 22-pound yellow.
