The East has dropped from 925cfs to 785cfs this week. It's been fishing pretty well all things considered. There are some key things that need to be done down there with this kind of flow to be successful. These include adding some significant weight to your flies to get them down near the bottom and reading the water carefully. You want to look for seams between the riffles and calmer water to fish, foam lines and back-eddy's. This slower water or slack water will undoubtedly be holding fish. Once you find water like that the trick is to get your flies down to where the fish are, then hang on! Remember, just because the water is high doesn't mean the fish have disappeared, and since they haven't disappeared, they still gotta eat.
Patterns that have been successful lately include buckskin caddis, 3-wire caddis, fox's poopah, La Fontaines sparkle pupa, zebra midges, wd-40's and san juan worms.
