Intrepid arrived at Pt. Loma Sportfishing July 3 under skipper Kevin Osborne's hand, following an eight-day CME Medical charter trip to Alijos Rocks.

"We got limits of nice yellowtail," said Kevin, "and some yellowfin. We had a tough go coming north, against the current and a lot of wind. We pulled in behind Cedros for a while, but there wasn't much going on that day in the cold water."

Fritz Brink of Yuba City won first place for a 99.2-pound yellowfin tuna. He told dock reporter Bill Roecker that he got it with a sardine under the kite, on one of the boat's kite outfits.

"It fought for 20 minutes," he said. "It's my best tuna ever."

Fritz's father Dan Brink of Yuba City won second place for a 90.4-pounder, and Bill Dunn of Malibu won third place for an 82.4-pound Alijos Rocks yellowfin tuna.
