Current River Conditions: Water conditions are excellent. The fishing has been good! Saw a few brown trout and several steelhead today. One fish went into the 10 lb range. Skwala stones are crawling around on the surface of the river. Saw a steelhead eat an adult skwala stone off the surface today! We are in for more good fishing through the coming week! The Trinity is a good choice!
Icy road conditions mean your journey on HWY 299, west of Buckhorn summit, will be a careful, slow one.
The Fly Shop's?? Tips: A variety of techniques, using your 8-9 wt rod for Salmon, or a more adaptable 5-6 wt fly rod for small steelhead and aggressive browns will tie you into fish. Suspending nymphs under an indicator, stripping buggers and leeches, swinging muddlers or PT nymphs will produce hook-ups! Even dry flies should be in the plan. Bring a parachute Adams! Hey! The King Salmon will eat nymphs suspended under indicators. What a blast!
Road Conditions:
Expect icy conditions in the AM and evening hours. Be very careful. Call 1-800.427.7623 for up to date Northern California Road Conditions. Here's a link to Cal-Trans Road Conditions: Click Here.
