Crazy weather this week up here on the Truckee River in Truckee-Reno-Tahoe. Cold and rain earlier in the week, record temps this weekend. I was mostly on the LT all week dry fly fishing with guests, fun stuff, but the real deal is the Truckee River.

The river, as we like to say, has been kicking them out. All the bugs are out, caddis, pmds, golden stones, you name it. Crays are in the mix and the big boys and girls love to chow down on them.

It is hot, and afternoons are not the best time to be out on the river. Mornings to mid-mornings are best. Keep a thermometer with you and check out the water temps. when it gets above 68, take a siesta and give the fish a break. It's hard on our finned friends when the water temp gets warm.

Pitured: Michael with a big boy from yesterday.
