Frenchman Lake is iced over except in a couple of spots. The only fishable open water is at Ship’s Cove across from the dam, but you will have to hike a ways to get to it. Cornelio Quintana from Loyalton limited out there yesterday using nightcrawlers. There are reports of some people fishing through the ice at the dam, but we are not recommending this. It warms up considerably in the afternoon and the ice starts to break apart. There are also puddles of water on top of the ice in other areas of the lake, so please use caution.
