As we have just about come to expect, today's fishing unfolded almost opposite as the prior two with only a few yellowfin for the effort despite fine fishing conditions. In fact, conditions were so fine that we dedicated the morning to anchor fishing picking off a few tuna in the 60 - 150# class well after daylight and again missing on a couple of opportunities at bigger fish. Following the morning anchor effort, we headed back out to the edge in pursuit of wahoo and tuna and were ecstatic to find very good sign of yellowfin on the outside and plenty of eager wahoo as well. To top it off, the weather and sea state were again fantastic making for a perfect setting to gently heave yellowfin in the 100 - 150# class on the soft mats, insert tags, take a few snapshots, and successfully execute a healthy release. Aside from a few stops that went awry due to ferocious sharks, the day scored very high in our book for overall enjoyment and success. All things considered, we have been very fortunate thus far, with just about everything, aside from the expected but tolerable shark challenge, unfolding in our favor. As a result we are rightfully thankful and looking forward to our next two days that will likely be spent in fishing paradise on the outside.

What a classic Clarion island morning beginning with a good action on 70 - 110# yellowfin tuna in addition to a scratch on cows that included a 209 and 197 as well as a couple of other missed opportunities on real deal big ones. All the morning action was had on the anchor where we remained through 10:00 a.m. with only minor grief from the sharks. It never ceases to amaze me how each day can be so vastly different...... A little more action to go around today but still a mere fraction of what was here showed any interest in biting. The a.m., again with breathtakingly beautiful weather and sea conditions, offered the best sign of bigger fish, but the biggest of the bunch today were in the 90 - 120# category. Remarkable that everything yesterday was 160 - 200, but certainly not surprising as we have seen such changes so many times in the past. Fortunately today there...... Read More
