We started the day off with a bang again charging into an all out ripper on 140 - 210# yellowfin that began just before sunrise and tapered off after about an hour. The vast majority of what we tagged and released was in the one hundred seventy to one hundred ninety five pound class giving these anglers the chance to stretch out their sore muscles early and get warmed up for the day to come. Man, what a morning. After the morning hit however, the fast action was over with the remainder of our day spent relaxing on the anchor scratching up an occasional 100 - 120# class yellowfin and a few smaller models. In all honesty, the slow relaxing day was thoroughly enjoyed and much appreciated as it gave us all a chance to catch up in preparation for the evening action to come. Ultimately we did get an evening hit but it was nothing like the previous two days with "only" a handful of 140 - 160# yellowfin tagged and two others over the coveted two hundred mark.
So, with the tremendous success we have enjoyed here at Isla Socorro, we are hitting the road tonight heading west in search of Wahoo, and of course more trophy yellowfin tuna. By heading outside we also hope to accomplish our goal of distributing tags in yellowfin tuna and Wahoo throughout the Revillagigedo reserve. With plenty of time to make the rounds and thoroughly assess what the other islands have available in the way of Wahoo and big yellowfin, we also will be able to make a stop back by Socorro on the way in if we choose. If that does indeed become a reality I suspect none of these fantastic anglers will be disappointed. Look for tomorrow's report with details from Roca Partida.

4-19-2008And the action continues though I must admit that these guys were showing signs of fatigue after another twenty five eighty to two hundred pound class yellowfin tuna were tagged and released by 0800. We slowed the pace after our morning hit taking a tour around the north side of the island to search for Wahoo as well as give anglers a breather and a chance to tune up their tackle in preparation for what we hoped would be another...... After a flawless arrival and departure from Cabo San Lucas, we are underway again heading for the remote, desolate island of San Benedicto where we will arrive tomorrow afternoon to begin our tag and release fishing. Everything is in order with a fantastic group of sixteen anglers ready to experience fishing action for giant yellowfin tuna and Wahoo that lives up to their dreams - especially during the past few nights. At the very least we hope to meet expectations,...... Read More
