Mike Shannon is the feature angler today most notably with his 294 he picked off with no time to spare on the final day. Mike had a run of tough luck on trophy yellowfin over the three or four days prior to this catch but more than made up for it with this beautiful bruiser. Poise and attitude are so important in fishing as we know that luck and trends cycle and test our patience, ability, and character. In the high stakes arena of giant yellowfin tuna fishing this is especially true. As I said Mike had a few heartbreaks on big fish before landing his personal best but was always positive and focused on the next opportunity rather than the one that was lost. This is one of those keys to success to take note of. Perfect equipment, focused effort, and making a good time of the adventure regardless is a time tested, winning combination.
