A very fine set up today that began with a bang, merged into a funk, then came on again strong in the right kind of way. Outstanding yellowtail action, consistent with all the tales of long range glory, was the theme. The scenery, weather, and visuals that included hundreds of 20 - 25 pound yellows up and crashing at any given time made for an exciting go of it. No complaints from this day of fishing.
Taking all into account we could not find a reason to change the program for at least one more day. All the old sayings apply. "Bird in the hand", "Make hay while the sun shines", "Don't leave fish to find fish" - take your pick. Everything about our current option is right.
Photo today features first time Royal Star angler Ron Davis and crewman Steve Gregonis with a stock grade yellowtail landed in one of several afternoon flurries.

The Bryde's and Sei's lunge feeding through massive bait schools while eager, school size yellowfin mopped up the stunned and/or missed spoils was the most dramatic of scenes but so many others complimented the day it would be too tedious to list. There is more to coming out on the ocean that just catching fish. But,...... Read More
