Stampede Fishing Report from James Netzel

by JAMES NETZEL
Fireworks at Stampede for the 4th of July means boat limits of Kokanee to 17” plus 5 nice trout. Stayed to myself today and away from where everyone else was fishing and Paulina Peak Tackle did the rest. If you were wondering what colors I used today I betcha you can guess. Lol. That’s right, Purple Haze, lemonade, cotton candy, and orange moon. Would like to try

Glitterbugs.org day today at Stampede for Kokanee 15”-16+”.  There was a big traffic jam out on Dog Valley Road that put us on the water after 6am but with the hot bite, it didn’t matter.  Purple and pink, pink n chartreuse, pink n blue, and chartreuse n orange worked equally with tuna flavored sho peg corn trolled between 35-55’ at 1.2mph.  Seeing lotta people struggle then when they

Kokanee!

Changed things up today. Trolled straight for the little Truckee arm picking up Kokanee after Kokanee along the way. Hit the shallows in the Truckee for a bunch of dink cutthroats and 5 pansized native rainbows. Turned around and trolled back to ramp to finish our limit of Kokanee.  Ya don’t have to fish with the pack of boats to catch 50 kokanee by 10am. Save yourself some frustration and

Weather almost cancelled today’s trip but Jim and Erin decided to give it a shot to see how a 4&6yr old would fair.  Well the kids didn’t have time to be cold as it was Fish after Fish after Fish. 4 year old Sawyer and 6yr old Sierra did not want anything to do with the Fish or poles at the beginning, but as the day

Kokanee and a Proposal!!

by JAMES NETZEL
In preparation for next weeks purpleheartanglers day, Larry and his new fiance(proposed on my boat today!!) went out in search of stampede Kokanee and were rewarded with a limit stick of 15”-16+” fairly quickly(less than 3 hrs). Paulinapeaktackle in orange moon was top color followed by purple haze and lemonade. Cotton candy caught a fair share too. Have room next week if anyone is interested. Call me at 888-975-0990.

After some days off I had heard that the bite had slowed down and the size was smaller at Stampede.  Well, the Kokanee did not get the message.  Ended up with 3 limits to over 16” by 8am.  Tried to drag the day on a little later by going to where I thought the fish were not and ended up with doubles, triples, and 2 quads.

Can’t argue about size today at Stampede.  2 Kokes close to 17” with the rest being 15”-16”.  Paulina Peak Tackle cotton candy was hot ticket today, but purple haze, lemonade, and orange moon held their own.

It was a Kokanee slaughter today at Stampede for 7 limits to 16”.  Paulina Peak Tackle Purple Haze, Orange UV Moon, and Pink Lemonade with matching hammered 4.25”dodgers did all the dirty work while I was busy setting out rods and netting Fish.  Very difficult to keep 4 rods fishing as they were constantly getting bit.  3 quads, multiple triples, and too many to count
