Spot Information
| Elevation: | 2753 ft. |
| Fish Species: | Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout |
Mojave Narrows Regional Park in Victorville, CA, features two fishable lakes—Horseshoe and Pelican—stocked with rainbow trout in cooler months and channel catfish in summer. Managed by San Bernardino County Parks, this urban lake serves as a desert oasis with year-round angling opportunities.
Rainbow trout are stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife from fall through spring and are caught using PowerBait, worms, and small spinners. Channel catfish are stocked multiple times in the summer and respond best to cut bait, chicken liver, and stink bait. Fishing for catfish is most productive during the evening.
Warmwater species such as largemouth bass and bluegill are also present. Bass fishing improves in spring and fall using plastics and crankbaits, while bluegill are ideal for beginners using worms under a bobber.
No boats are allowed; fishing is restricted to shorelines and designated piers. A California fishing license and a day-use entry fee are required. The park includes picnic shelters, restrooms, and play areas, making it ideal for family outings.
Mojave Narrows offers dependable, beginner-friendly fishing in a peaceful desert setting, combining reliable stocking, ample access, and supportive facilities to create one of the High Desert’s best fishing experiences.
