Typical winter style fishing on the Main Truckee seems to be the name of the game. As you can listen to in Episode 9 of the Reno Fly Shop Podcast. Winter is the time for quality over quantity. High sticking and indicator fishing in the slower water can produce some really nice fish. We have been out with a dry/dropper on calm cloudy days and have been catching fish. Swinging unweighted streamers through frog water and tailouts will pick up a Brown Trout out for a daily meal.

Flows in the Truckee are up and down with the frequent storms we have been getting. High flow is a great time to streamer fish the edges of the main channel and to even break out the two hand rod and swing some streamers. Keep moving and have fun.

Flies: Flashback Pheasant Tail #14 and #16, Pink Soft Spot #16, Bird’s Nest Black #14, Red Butt #14 and #16, Flashtail Wooly Bugger Black and Olive, Stanley Streamer Brown
