The fishing at Pyramid has begun to slow down over the last few weeks as we begin to see the fish here stage for their spawn, with the occasional pair attempting to do the deed right along the lakeshore. This activity will continue to increase in the next month and the bite will become increasingly sporadic during this time. Please be sure to give the spawning fish their space and only target the fish still cruising in the deeper water of 4 feet or greater.

Indicator fishing has been the most consistent, especially as we see more spring weather at the lake. We recommend using midges in sizes 10-14 during this time as well as other attractor nymphs such as maholo nymphs, copper johns, dragonfly nymphs, etc. in an effort to give them something different if/when the bite becomes tough. The fishing will be shifting more towards the low light hours as days become longer so fish hard in the mornings and evenings and don’t be scared to take a long lunch during the warmest points in the day. This will also be an excellent time to make a camping trip out here as the spring weather and longer days will certainly be a bit more enjoyable than camping during the winter months and the fishing remains steady.
