Lost Creek dropped six feet in the last week as part of the annual drawdown, and the surface temperature jumped to 80oF with the hot weather. Both boat ramps are available.‌

Trout anglers will want to fish deeper with the warm water, or fish the upper reaches of the reservoir above Highway 62. Trolling wedding rings spiked with nightcrawler behind an oval egg sinker is almost always productive, other lures or small spoons should be tried while trolling. ‌

Still fishing with PowerBait and wind drifting with nightcrawlers are both effective. Trout anglers are reminded to be cautious with catch-and-release fishing during the heat wave.‌

Smallmouth bass fishing is good. One group caught smallmouth bass up to 2.5 pounds casting rubber worms near shore in the vicinity of Catfish Cove recently.‌

ODFW continues work to restore the largemouth bass fishery. Look for rocky outcroppings, boulders, willows, or other holding structure when targeting largemouth bass.‌

Anglers can get the latest reservoir details by calling the US Army Corps Lost Creek Lake and Applegate Reservoir projects information line at 1-800-472-2434.
