It has begun!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
It has begun! There are two main methods of finding fish on fly gear out here right now. Both involve a boat, electronics and persistence. While

We have seen the streamer bite pick up this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has seen continued good temps and good flows this week, despite the warmer weather and the slight drop out of Boca, going from 300 CFS down to 200. This will lower the canyon slightly but won’t be enough to make much of a difference to the fishing. It will, however, make for rafting in that section to be a bit spotty and anyone

Fishing has been getting better as the temperatures drop

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has been getting better as the temperatures drop. The mackinaw bite has picked up around the Camp Richardson area to Dollar Point. Many anglers have been doing well on the Tahoe shelf with a dodger and a live minnow. For the Kokanee, they typically school up in the deeper holes by Taylor Creek, getting ready to spawn. Vertical jigging with a blue/white or pink/white jig

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Renee and I fished the lake just before our trip and caught 18 nice trout up to 14 inches. The lake level has dropped a little. We fished the whole lake and could see fish everywhere. I usually throw flies and have great luck on the lake. This trip, nada! Meaning, not a one would touch my flies. So we went to trolling perch and

Despite lower water levels associated with fall surveys, anglers fishing from the shoreline and watercraft have landed double-digit striped bass using large swimbaits in the 8- to 10-inch range. Trout fishing has been good near the Willow Beach Fishing Pier, especially during morning hours. PowerBait and worms are the top bait choices. Largemouth bass are taking soft plastics in the shallows, while smallmouth bass are

Smallmouth bass are reacting well to creature baits thrown along drop-offs. Catfish are active near vegetation and bite on chicken liver or anchovies. Anglers are catching trout from shore using night crawlers and glittery PowerBait.

It’s here! The start of the 26/27 Pyramid season has begun

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
t’s here! The start of the 26/27 Pyramid season has begun. We are excited/hopeful for another excellent year at the lake! If the rumors of the super La Nina/El Nino are true, we should expect a truly amazing year out here, as this fishery is one of the few in the world that just appears to be getting better and better every year, and the

The Truckee has been fishing quite well this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been fishing quite well this week along most stretches of river due to good water temps just about everywhere right now, except from Lockwood downstream, where the persistent warm water coming out of Steamboat Creek has been keeping that section a bit too warm still. We would also recommend fishing anywhere from Hirschdale downstream, where the flows would be at their best.
