The boat launch is open, and shore fishing has been quite productive. Most of the action is taking place along the north end of the lake near the boat launch. Anglers finding success are primarily using inflated nightcrawlers or PowerBait fished off the bottom.

For those trolling, the focus has been on Mackinaw (lake trout), with larger plugs and spoons producing the best results. With ongoing snowmelt filling the lake, many of these fish are holding higher in the water column—often within the top 20 feet. Donner Lake is roughly 70% capacity.
