Current Water Conditions

Flows on the Little Truckee between Stampede and Boca are holding steady at approximately 589 CFS. With the flows this high and water flowing over the banks of the river, fishing can be difficult for wading. The best time to head out there is early morning when water temperatures are more optimal for the fish.

Water Temperatures

Water temps are ranging from low to mid 50s°F.

Hatches

Not many hatches are happening with the flows high right now.

Effective Tactics

Right now, fish are in their spawn period on the Little Truckee River. If possible, anglers should focus their fishing at other bodies of water right now while this is happening. The spawn should be over in a couple of weeks. If anglers do decide to fish here, avoid the reds and be cautious of where you stand. While the bite with the high flows, anglers should be indicator nymphing or streamer fishing to get any bites on the Little Truckee River right now. Fish the deeper pools with nymphs like Zebra Midges, San Juan Worms, Glowbugs, or Sculpzillas.

Catch Report

Fish are spread throughout the system with the high water, so the bite is minimal.
