2.6-pound Bluegill

Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, AZ

Now that's a nice panfish! This beauty was brought in by local angler Patrick Pauli. I'm confident it's a bluegill, although it looks similar to the redear sunfish we see in our waters.

Patrick was using a small spinner when he landed this impressive 2.6-pound bluegill, measuring 14 5/8 inches in length. It could even be a Nevada state record! He caught it in the Back Bay area of Laughlin Bay.

The striper bite continues to be strong, with anglers catching limits of stripers in the 1- to 3-pound range using anchovies from shore. As a reminder, we do have some larger fish cruising our waters, so be sure to set your drag accordingly in case you hook into one of those bigger stripers.

Up on Lake Mohave, trolling has been producing the best results. Anglers are finding success with bucktail jigs and various swimbaits in white or trout patterns. There's also an area near the dam that has been producing some nice catches of both stripers and largemouth bass.

If you're having any luck on the lake, the river, or anywhere along the Colorado River, let me know. I'd love to hear your story and see your catch.

As always, thank you for all your support.

Now go catch a fish!
