The Fall River continues to reward anglers looking for a technical, sight-fishing experience. Fish are feeding throughout the day on a wide menu of bugs, but success continues to favor anglers who make deliberate presentations with longer leaders and fine tippet.

PMDs continue to provide the strongest afternoon hatch, while midges and Blue Wing Olives remain part of the daily mix. As the sun drops, caddis activity has become increasingly dependable. Rather than locking onto a single insect, trout seem to be feeding more opportunistically, making it worthwhile to spend a few minutes watching the water before choosing a pattern. 

Subsurface presentations continue to produce the most consistent action between hatch periods. Zebra Midges, Olive Perdigons, Two Bit Hookers, PMD nymphs, and tan caddis pupa are all producing when fished with natural drifts through deeper lanes and along weed edges. Anglers looking for larger fish are having success slowly stripping compact olive streamers around submerged wood and deeper structure.
