The three-day Med Care charter aboard Vagabond with skipper Mike Lackey docked at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 15, with a good catch of albacore.

"There's a good edge out there," said Lackey, "with a lot of bait on it. I don't think those fish are going anywhere for a while."

Rick Berry of Alta Loma won first place for a 34.2-pound albacore that bit his sardine on a 2/0 Mustad beak hook. He said he used 30-pound P-Line on an Accurate 870 reel and a Calstar 700 M rod.

Rick's brother Don Berry of Fontana won second place for a 34-pounder, and Bob Ford of Phoenix was third, for a 33.2-pound albacore.
