Enough can not be said about the contributions to Royal Star tagging projects made by master angler Len Cunningham. At seventy six years young the old school angling skills employed by Len are worthy of pure admiration and respect. His record of yellowfin tuna released in the name of science continues to grow with 62 this voyage including a 218 and a handful of other mid one hundreds. I spoke of Len's character during the voyage and can only add that he is a special individual that we are very fortunate to share time fishing with on Royal Star. With a background in marine research and a long history of sport fishing out of San Diego Len deserves immense recognition for his contributions to Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission yellowfin tuna tagging studies that are a benchmark for all sport fishermen to appreciate. My most sincere gratitude is extended to Len for his almost unbelievable drive, motivation, dedication, and effort. I look forward to many more days on the water enjoying good times together.

All fares include permit costs and island bracelets when necessary. There will be no fuel surcharges unless...... Read More

Mike Shannon is the feature angler today most notably with his 294 he picked off with no time to spare on the final day. Mike had a run of tough luck on trophy yellowfin over the three or four days prior to this catch but more than made up for it with this beautiful bruiser. Poise and attitude are so important in fishing as we know that luck and trends cycle and test our patience, ability, and character. In the...... Read More
