Onion continues to fish great. Bait fisherman using eggs and worms under a bobber or off the bottom in open water are catching good fish. Spin fisherman have been reporting action all day on small rooster tails and panther martins. Fish are averaging 13-14 inches but there’s no shortage of fish. Fishing should continue to be excellent until the seasons close.

Bilk has had a few tough years but should improve this fall with stocking. There are still a few bass in the lake, but the trout should be the main catch when temperatures come down a little.

Just a few reports in this season. Most trout seem to be averaging 10 inches with a few as large as 15. Fishing should remain good through fall and the end of the season.

Chimney Dam Reservoir Report

After the best season in decades, Chimney still has been kicking out a few walleye ranging 17-23”. Night crawlers under a bobber or carp cut bait from shore. Diving plugs and jigs should be good until water temperatures really come down.

22.31 lb. Carp - Humboldt River

            Check out the latest new water record!   Pedro Gonzales landed this 22lb. 5oz. Carp on August 13th, from the Humboldt River in Eureka County. It was over 36 inches long with a 23 inch girth. Pedro said it took him over an hour to bring it in!

Bilk has had a few tough years but should improve this fall with stocking. There are still a few bass in the lake, but the trout should be the main catch when temperatures come down a little. Warms are a great all-around bait off the bottom, or under a bobber for both the bass and trout.

Great reports back from the first 2 weeks of the season. Healthy trout averaging 17 inches with a few 20 plus showing up already.  NDOW crews were recently up at Knott Creek Reservoir checking access, water levels, and working on a fish survey. The reservoir is accessible from both the north and south roads. The south road going up Cove Creek is in better shape

The opener at Onion was excellent

Just as anticipated, the opener at Onion was excellent. Fish averaged 13 inches but several people found some carryovers to 19 inches.  The road from the west side is open to access Onion Valley Reservoir. Recent rains have created gullies and ruts in some areas, so be careful when navigating these areas. Most wet flies, spinners, and bait work well at onion. The hardest part

Kinney pond has been stocked and has been fishing well with the warmer weather. Small slow moving spinners and jigs can be very productive during the early season. Fly fisherman slowly retrieving small woolly buggers are catching a few.

Bilk is currently frozen. Fishing will slow considerably at Bilk with the winter and ice. Look for stocking to begin again this spring.
