Algae continues to impact water clarity and weed growth is thick in the southern portion of the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water temperatures are in the low 70s. Algae continues to impact water clarity and weed growth is thick in the southern portion of the reservoir. Until water temperatures come down a bit more, trout fishing will remain slow, especially from shore. The trout bite is better for boaters who can reach the deeper, cooler water. Trout are hitting combinations of PowerBait and worms, as well

Pyramid Lake 2025 Fall early Winter Forecast

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
Pyramid will again open to fishing on October 1st. A tradition held by local anglers for many years. The Lore of the World’s Largest Cutthroat Trout attracts attention from all over the world these days and we are excited to see what this season has to offer. We had an amazing summer. Near or even below normal air temperatures for much of the hot part of

25.92-pound Striped Bass

by RUSTY
Here along the shores of the Colorado River, the striper bite has been steady with plenty of hookups. Most of the action has been from smaller fish getting to the bait first, but some bigger catches are coming in as well. Local angler Mike Selby landed a beautiful 8.21-pound, 30-inch striper—light for its length—but his 25.92-pound, 41-inch trophy striper is an outstanding catch. He was fishing

That's a wrap for summer on the Truckee!

by MATT KOLES
That's a wrap for Summer on the Truckee River.  The kids are back in school, and the last of the burners leaving town, good riddance. Should probably be pretty mellow in town and on the river here on out.  Not at all hot, stark contrast to some late Summers we've had in the past. No smoke, and no fires either. Flows have also remained very good.  Fishing has

Temperatures reaching over 110 F isn’t slowing down the fishing at Willow Beach

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Temperatures reaching over 110 F isn’t slowing down the fishing at Willow Beach. Good-sized striped bass are being caught consistently with plenty of smaller ones mixed in. Bigger fish are mainly being caught on large swimbaits and plugs in trout patterns. The trout fishing is best the couple of days following these stockings and the go-to tactics are PowerBait and nightcrawlers. Special Regulations: The limit is

The traditional summer trends are holding true on Lake Mohave currently

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The traditional summer trends are holding true on Lake Mohave currently. Both the large striped bass and smallmouth bass are suspended in the deeper water. Smaller striped bass can be found in shallower water on smaller swimbaits. Largemouth bass

Lake Mead has been fishing well

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Lake Mead has been fishing well. Similar to Lake Mohave, the larger striped bass and smallmouth bass are suspended out in the deeper water above the thermocline. Smallmouth are being caught mainly on finesse presentations, while striped bass anglers are reporting the most success on swimbaits. More good fishing to report along the Colorado

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
More good fishing to report along the Colorado. Striped bass can be found in the cooler water hitting baits like swimbaits or anchovies. Anglers are finding the small striped bass on smaller lures and anchovies, while the majority of the big striped bass are keying in on the larger swimbaits and plugs. Trout patterns for these larger baits would be a good place to start

Fishing is strong

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Fishing is strong across the lake for anglers targeting the right depths. Surface temps are mid-60s°F. Mackinaw are holding 80–140 feet down near the Cal Neva Hole and South Lake, hitting jigged minnows and trolled plugs, with plugs producing larger fish. Kokanee are active around Baldwin Beach at 70 feet, averaging 13–20 inches. Big browns are cruising around 100 feet and taking Rapalas. Early mornings

The Truckee is fishing really well!

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions The Truckee River is fishing really well this week, especially for anglers who hit the water before the crowds roll in. Flows are steady and healthy—303 CFS at Tahoe City, 335 CFS through Truckee, and 514 CFS at Farad—making the canyon stretch particularly productive. Mornings have been cool, trout are feeding hard, and water clarity is excellent. Thanks to these cooler mornings and

Beautiful sunny days are expected!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The daily thunderstorms kept us a bit on our toes this week. We saw an overall dip in water temp, but they were certainly all over the place and still warmer than expected. Most of the days the rain did little to change flows on the Truckee. Other days, we saw a huge short-lived spike from very localized rain events, which even caused mudslides on
